in the New Year
Happy new year everyone! What a whirlwind these last few weeks have been! As the year winds down, I love to look back on what I accomplished as well as make new goals for myself for the new year. I have lots of ideas & dreams for myself for this year. I have a few big things happening for Full of Joy Yoga which I'll share soon! It always takes me a few weeks to figure out what I want for myself personally and professionally so I start thinking about it at the end of the year and figure out how to incorporate those new goals for myself as the year begins. As you all have read, self-care was a big one for me and I continue to bring it into my new year full force.
I started doing Yoga Camp with Yoga with Adriene (my favorite online yogi- check out her free youtube videos). As you may have noticed from past blog posts, I do well with challenges and morning routines. A couple of months ago I re-started (it's been 5 years!) going to this awesome place for bootcamp called Tuff Girls in Hamden, CT. It's been amazing for my body, mind and spirit and I'm getting STRONG. In addition, I get bodywork, go to a chiropractor and make time for me. I plan to continue this year because I know that in order to take care of all the people in my life who I love, I need to take care of me first. Mama's- get out there and find your ME time. It changes everything.
In the meantime, I'm also working on where I want to take this biz. I plan to work more with teachers and schools to bring yoga & mindfulness. We want our kids to be successful, and with that comes focus, self regulation, and awareness. Kids who grow up with trauma don't learn the necessary coping skills to deal with everyday challenges. Then learning gets put on the back burner. It's finally been proven that being taught the right skills, through yoga & mindfulness, kids can learn how to self-regulate and deal with the daily stresses in a safe, healthy way. I love the work I'm doing in the schools so far and plan to make it grow and spread.
What are your goals for 2016? I'd love to hear what you have cooking up for the next year!
